(Minot, ND) -- A woman is dead after a head-on crash 15 miles south of Minot.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 24-year-old man was traveling southbound on Highway 83 when a second vehicle was attempting to cross the intersection of Highway 23. The southbound vehicle struck the driver's side of the crossing vehicle.

A Minot woman, the driver of the struck vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle, a 24-year-old Omaha, Nebraska woman, was seriously injured. Authorities say charges are possible in the case against the southbound driver, who was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
