(Sturgis, SD) — Tax collections from the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally are down slightly compared to last year.
The South Dakota Department of Revenue estimates about $1.45M dollars was collected during the ten-day event earlier this month.
That’s down six percent year-over-year.
A portion of the decrease is due to a drop in the state tax rate from four-point-five percent to four-point-two percent.
