(St.Paul, MN) -- The Biden Administration is awarding more than 230 million dollars to rural Minnesota.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack made the announcement yesterday after his tour of the State Fair. The funding will go towards rural development projects. Officials say $4.1 million dollars is for a beef and pork meat-processing facility in Waubun. An additional $1.5 million will go towards the Rural Economic Development Loan to help the Farmers Union Federation purchase a mobile meat slaughtering and processing trailer.

"USDA invests in rural America because we know strong communities are rooted in their people,” Secretary Vilsack said. “Powering people with modern infrastructure creates good-paying jobs and supports opportunities for people to build brighter futures."
