(Stillwater, MN)  --  Minnesota health officials say the water at Stillwater prison is safe to drink.

They add that Department of Corrections should address discoloration that could signal corroded pipes.

The health department held tests a week after over 100 inmates refused to return to their cells on September 3.

They were protesting staff shortages that left them little access to showers and cool water during extreme heat in the facility that has no air conditioning.

Prisoners said the only water they were able to access was often brown during the summer.
