Jamestown Police identify, make contact with man wearing security hat, badge

(JAMESTOWN) – Jamestown Police have identified a man observed on camera in southwest Jamestown who was walking up to doors of residences wearing a security hat and a badge.

In a social media post on Saturday, Jamestown Police say they have made contact with the individual, who is a mortgage compliance officer based in Fargo. They say the man was talked to about wearing a hat with the word SECURITY across it and was advised “not to do so any further.”

Police issued a public safety alert on social media Friday morning, saying the message was being shared “for public awareness as this is not a local law enforcement officer.” The Jamestown Police Department said Friday that they were “unsure of his intentions.”
