Former Minnesota Congressman, Secretary of State dies at 92

(MINNESOTA) – Former Minnesota Congressman and Secretary of State, Arlen Erdahl, passed away Thursday. He was 92.

Erdahl served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1963 until 1970, was the Minnesota Secretary of State from 1971 until 1975, and was a US Representative from Minnesota’s First Congressional District from 1979 until 1983.

Erdahl was also the Country Director, and later the Associate Director, for the Peace Corps from 1983 until 1989, and served as the Principal Deputy/Acting Assistant Secretary for International Affiairs at the US Department of Energy from 1989 until 1993.

Services will be held on October 14 in Minneapolis. Erdahl will be interred at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield, Minn.
