North Dakota Game and Fish asks boaters to check for aquatic nuisance species

(Bismarck, ND)  --  The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is asking anglers and boaters to check their vessels and equipment for aquatic nuisance species also known as ANS.

ANS's like zebra mussels attach to hard surfaces such as boat lifts and docks.

They are known for damaging water-treatment and power plants because they attach and multiply in such great clusters and cling to pipes and clog them.

Officials ask if you find a zebra mussel to take a picture and write down where it was found and when and report it on the Game and Fish Department website.
