North Dakota special legislative session ends with defeat of income tax relief bill backed by Governor Burgum

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota lawmakers concluded their special session Wednesday afternoon after passing fourteen bills and one Concurrent Resolution.

What they didn't pass was the income tax relief bill promoted by Governor Doug Burgum.

House Bill 1549 would have eliminated income tax for single filers making $60,000 a year or less and for married couples earning $100 thousand dollars a year or less.

The senate killed the bill by a vote of 31 to 16 after it was overwhelmingly passed by the house Tuesday.

Lawmakers also passed legislation finalizing the budget for the Office of Management and Budget.

The Concurrent Resolution they passed expressed support for Israel and condemned the terrorist attack by Hamas.
