Senator Cramer: "disgusting" for gun legislation to come before senate following Maine mass shooting

(Fargo. ND) -- Senator Kevin Cramer says he expects to see gun control legislation come before the senate in the wake of the mass shooting in Maine, and he's disappointed.

"It is disgusting and it's understandable in a way because politics always responds to events. It's predictable, it's disgusting, particularly so close to the tragedy on one hand. On the other hand it's also when the issue I suppose they see it as the ripest," said Cramer.

Cramer calls the shooting "sickening", and expresses his condolences to the people impacted.

The senator says the shooting emphasizes the need for a greater focus on mental health.
