(Bismarck, ND) – North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley has joined 32 other attorneys general in suing Meta in federal court. The attorneys general allege that Meta “knowingly designed and deployed harmful features” on Instagram and other social media platforms. These features “purposefully addict children and teens.”
In addition, Meta falsely assure the public that the features are “safe and suitable” for young users.
The attorneys general assert that the company’s business practices violate state consumer protection laws and the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
The federal complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Other states joining the suit include Minnesota and South Dakota.
