North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission head resigns

(Bismarck, ND) – North Dakota’s Indian Affairs Commission Executive Director has resigned.

Governor Doug Burgum announced Monday afternoon that he accepted the resignation of North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission Executive Director Nathan Davis. The resignation is effective November 13.

Davis, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, indicated he is seeking a better fit for his family closer to home.

Davis was pointed to the position in June 2021, and, as executive director, serves at a cabinet level between North Dakota’s state and tribal governments to address issues regarding, among others, education, court systems, economic development, social services, gaming, oil-energy, law enforcement and youth.

An interim executive director will be named by November 13, Burgum said.
