Minnesota Attorney General asking residents to share stories of social media addiction ahead of Meta lawsuit

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota's Attorney General is asking Minnesotans to share stories of social media addiction stories of children and teens across the state.

The call comes as AG Keith Ellison joined a coalition of 41 other Attorneys General in a lawsuit against Meta, alleging the company knowingly created addictive features and placed them on Facebook and Instagram. Ellison says the shared stories will help the Attorney General's Office understand the impact of social media addiction. 

“It’s my job to protect Minnesotans, and right now I am deeply concerned that social media companies are preying on children and teenagers,” said Attorney General Ellison. “If you have a story about how social media has affected a young person in Minnesota, I am asking you to share that with my office. By sharing your stories, you will help us understand the harm these platforms are causing so we can better stop that bad behavior moving forward.”
