First North Dakota bird flu case reported since spring

(LaMoure, ND) -- North Dakota is tracking its first bird flu case since this past spring.

The state Department of Agriculture says a commercial flock of more than 25-thousand turkeys tested positive for avian influenza in southeastern LaMoure County last week.

It's the first reported case in the state since April.

The animals were killed to make sure they don't enter the food system.

Producers are not allowed to take or bring poultry into the county until no new cases emerge for 30 days.

A similar order is in place for McIntosh County.
