(Bismarck, ND) -- An excessive force lawsuit filed by Dakota Access Pipeline protesters is over.
A federal appeals court recently upheld a ruling to dismiss the case.
Nine demonstrators accused dozens of law enforcement officers of using tear gas and rubber bullets to prevent a protest over construction of the pipeline in south central North Dakota seven years ago.
A three-panel judge affirmed the previous decision to side with police saying they feared for their lives because they were outnumbered.
Other excessive force lawsuits tied to the 2016 demonstration are still playing out in federal court.
