(St. Paul, MN) -- Nearly two-dozen Minnesota deer have been tested this fall and found to have chronic wasting disease.

Data from the Department of Natural Resources shows that more than half of the 23 cases confirmed were found in southeast Minnesota. Thirteen deer samples are still waiting for a second confirmation test but are considered suspect. Minnesota has been testing for the disease since 2010 and has confirmed 245 cases in that time.

For context, there were 36 confirmed cases in 2019-2020, 27 cases in 2020-2021, and 53 in 2021-2022. You can find more information by clicking here
