Drought conditions easing in most of North Dakota

(Bismarck, ND) -- December begins with most of North Dakota not in some form of drought.

The U.S. Drought Monitor and the National Integrated Drought Information System show about 3/4 of the state is currently not in dry or drought conditions. Just under 19% of the counties are reporting abnormally dry conditions with 9% in moderate drought. Parts of five counties in Northeast North Dakota, or just under 7% of the state, is in severe drought. 

An estimated 90,900 North Dakota residents are living in some form of drought conditions, ranging from moderate to severe. October in 2023 is considered the 26th wettest October on record since they have been recorded in 1895, and the 60th wettest January - October on record since 1895.
