Bemidji Police arrest teen suspect accused of threatening school staff member

(Bemidji, MN) -- Bemidji Police say a suspect is in custody after threats were sent by a teen in the city. 

The Bemidji Police Department says they received multiple messages related to a threat made to a staff member in Bemidji Public Schools. Authorities were able to identify a phone number used to send the threats, and subsequently learned the identity of a suspect. Officers were able to locate the suspect, who resided in Bemidji, and arrested a juvenile male for Felony Terroristic Threats. 

 Police Captain David LaZella credits cooperation with multiple parties, including Bemidji Area Public Schools and several 3rd party cellular re-sellers, in locating a suspect. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the investigation.
