Two seriously injured in crash on I-29 near Grand Forks

(Grand Forks, ND) — Two people are hospitalized with serious injuries following a rear-end crash on I-29 near Grand Forks on Thursday evening.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2012 GMC Acadia and a 2014 Dodge Durango were both southbound on I-29 in the left lane of travel.

For an unknown reason, the GMC, driven by an 81-year-old Devils Lake man, was traveling well below the posted speed limit. The Dodge, driven by a 54-year-old Thompson man, struck the rear-end of the GMC.

The GMC came to rest in the median, while the Dodge came to rest across both southbound lanes of I-29.

Both drivers were transported to Altru Hospital for their injuries.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Roads were said to be wet at the time of the crash.
