Traffic stop leads to chase, arrest of 29-year-old in Grand Forks

(Grand Forks, ND) — A 29-year-old man was arrested after leading authorities on a foot chase Tuesday morning in Grand Forks.

According to Grand Forks Police Sergeant Danny Pemberton, at around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Grand Forks Police initiated da traffic stop on a northbound traveling vehicle on Columbia Road near the University of North Dakota campus. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Juan Gutierrez, then fled from officers onto the University campus, where it crashed into a snow pile.

Gutierrez then fled on foot in the area of 2900 2nd Avenue North, and was taken into custody in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue North.

He was transported to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, and was booked on multiple charges, as well as outstanding federal warrants.

Grand Forks Police were assisted by the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office and the University of North Dakota Police Department.
