Man facing $1 million dollar bond after alleged sexual assault and near death of Bismarck woman

(Bismarck, ND) -- A man charged in the brutal home invasion assault and attempted murder of a Bismarck woman is being held on a $1 million bond.

Police say Edward Harper Jr. followed the woman home last week, entering through an unlocked door. Authorities say Harper Jr. sexually assaulted, beat, and tried to kill the woman in her home. She was able to call police after he fell asleep. Harper is charged with attempted murder, gross sexual imposition by force, burglary, felonious restraint, and terrorizing. 

Harper Jr. faces up to life in prison if convicted.
