(St. Paul, MN) -- Governor Walz says new transportation infrastructure funding will help support over 2,000 jobs in the Twin Cities and around Minnesota.

The governor joined with state transportation officials yesterday to announce over $17 million in new funding for infrastructure projects. The funding is being provided through the state's Transportation Economic Development programs.

“Investing in our transportation system helps strengthen communities, create jobs, and promote economic growth,” said Governor Walz. “ These projects will support a broad range of opportunities for business growth, ranging from business incubators to small businesses to meat processing plants, while improving the safety and efficiency of our transportation system.”

Walz said the new projects will support business growth while improving the safety and efficiency of Minnesota's transportation system.
