Itasca County crash leads to death and serious injury after vehicle became airborne

(Itasca County, ND) -- A man has died after a weekend crash in Itasca County.  

The county sheriff's office says an SUV was traveling north on Highway 46 on Saturday morning when it left the road and became airborne.  The vehicle hit several trees, killing a 37-year-old man from Michigan who was a passenger in the vehicle.  The woman who was driving the vehicle was seriously injured and hospitalized.  

No other vehicles were involved and the cause of the crash is under investigation. The identities of those involved are expected to be released at a later date.
