Grand Forks needle exchange program survives council vote

(Grand Forks, ND)  --  A needle exchange program in Grand Forks will remain in place.

The city council recommended the program continue after a 3-3 vote yesterday failed to end it.

The program provides clean needles to those who risk infection using dirty needles to inject substances.

The goal is to reduce the spread of diseases like Hepatitis C and HIV.

The needle exchange program is funded by federal money and private grants.
