(Grand Forks, ND) -- The University of North Dakota will begin offering a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Classes in the degree program will begin this fall.
The State Board of Education approved the degree program earlier this month.
The hope is to increase the number of local journalists at media outlets around the state.
Industry officials say it's hard to convince people to move to the state so it's best to develop homegrown journalists to fill the many open positions.
