South Dakota lands in Xcel Energy's clean energy plan

(Sioux Falls, SD)  --  South Dakota is part of one company's plan to become carbon-free.

It's one of a handful of states that are included in Xcel Energy's clean energy plan for the upper Midwest.  The company wants to reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2030.  It hopes to be completely carbon free within the next two-to-three decades.  One way Xcel Energy hopes to reach its goal is by adding more wind and solar energy to its existing systems.
