Minnesota Senate Majority Leader stepping down after cancer diagnosis

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic says she's stepping down from her leadership role after learning her cancer has returned. 

Dziedzic underwent surgery last year to treat ovarian cancer, which included a hysterectomy and an appendectomy. Dziedzic said in a statement the cancer has come back and she is now facing "some serious challenges," prompting her to decided that it is in the best interest of the caucus to step down as Majority Leader a new leader is selected.
