(Fargo, ND) -- Former Minnesota republican candidate for attorney general Jim Schultz is serving in a new role and is urging state lawmakers to exercise fiscal restraint during this session.

"They raised taxes by ten billion dollars last year. Now there is discussion this coming session of a new state sales tax of another three-eighths of a percent, further increasing the financial burdens of everyday Minnesotans, on Minnesota's businesses," said Schultz.

Schultz is serving as the president for the recently formed Minnesota Private Business Council.

Schultz says "last year's legislative session overlooked the priorities of Minnesotans, imposing significant financial burdens on the state's economy and its people."
