(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota lawmakers are trying to figure out how they can find out sooner if a foreign company is trying to buy up farmland in the state.
Senator Kevin Cramer expressed his concerns yesterday saying the Committee on Foreign Investments in the U.S. is not allowed to share this kind of information with anyone.
The state legislature tried to pass a bill prohibiting land sales to countries listed as adversaries last year, but it didn't pass.
At Tuesday's meeting, Cramer did show his support for the community of Grand Forks after residents pushed back against a proposed land sale by the Chinese company Fugeng last year that was ultimately shut down.
