(Washington, D.C.) -- Governor Doug Burgum is attending the NGA winter meeting in the nation's capital.

Officials say the annual National Governors' Association draws the top government executives from all 50 states. Speaking to media yesterday, Burgum said he and his fellow governors would be discussing strategies about how to manage the current controversy over immigration at the southern border. He added that energy production would also be on the meeting's agenda, along with the growth of artificial intelligence and how the burgeoning technology would impact the job market.

“These gatherings of governors provide a valuable forum to share ideas, best practices and solutions to the common challenges facing our states,” Burgum said in a statement. “We’re grateful to NGA for facilitating these robust discussions, and we look forward to the opportunity to promote North Dakota and as we engage with state and national leaders on topics that affect all North Dakotans and Americans, including agriculture and energy, the economy and national security."
