Driver charged after allegedly hitting trooper's vehicle

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A Bismarck man faces up to five years in prison if convicted of criminal vehicular injury.

Steven Kessel has been charged in connection to hitting a state trooper's patrol vehicle on Sunday.

The trooper's car was hit as he was pulling out of a median on to U.S. Highway 83 with emergency lights on to conduct a traffic stop.

Officials say the trooper has since experienced a lot of pain from his crash injuries.

Kessel's bond was set at 50-thousand-dollars.
