Senator Kevin Cramer on TikTok bill: "some version of it needs to pass"

(Fargo, ND) -- Senator Kevin Cramer is commenting on whether he thinks the Senate will vote in favor of the legislation, already approved by the house, that could potentially ban TikTok in the United States.

"I think some version of it needs to pass and I would support that. My sense is, my guess is, my experience would tell me that in the Senate it will probably be modified and might be a little more modest, maybe provide a longer time to sell off from ByteDance, said Cramer.

Cramer said "we need to protect ourselves" while also protecting first amendment rights.

Some free speech advocates are expressing concerns about the version of the bill passed by the house, saying the legislation would also allow a president to ban certain websites.
