(St. Paul, MN) -- Friday is the deadline for Minnesota lawmakers to submit policy specific bills for the 2024 legislative session.

While an estimated 5,000 bills have been introduced this year, Representative Zach Stephenson believes an estimated 4,500 won't make the Friday deadline and will be set aside for a future session. This potentially includes laws that place restrictions on firearms, medically assisted suicide for terminally ill patients, and the returning of 155,000 acres of land to the White Earth Nation.

Other bills will see submissions beyond the Friday deadline if they pertain to taxes of if they need additional special rules panels hearings.
