(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota's Attorney General's Office is set to expunge criminal records for those who have turned over a new leaf.

Attorney General Keith Ellison says the office will kick off the "clean slate" tour to seal the criminal convictions of old, non-violent offenses at several "expungement clinics" across the state. Those who wish to earn an expungement will need to meet with the AG's office and review their criminal records to have  the records sealed. The record will still exist, but will not be accessible to the public.

The AG's office says all expungements will be done at no cost.

“Old, non-violent convictions should not stop folks who’ve turned over a new leaf from getting a good job, finding a place to live, and obtaining an education,” said Minnesota Attorney General Ellison. “I share the people of Minnesota’s belief in redemption, and making sure people can contribute to their community is essential to that redemption. I look forward to the launch of our Clean Slate Tour, I’m grateful to everyone helping make this happen, and I encourage Minnesotans with old, non-violent records to stop by and see what we can do to help.”
