Court cases spike in South Central Judicial District in North Dakota

(WDAY Radio) -- The North Dakota Court system continues to see a spike in caseloads.  

In the South-Central District, cases going to trial had a small decrease, but criminal filings last year were up by four-percent from 2022. Felony charge filings also increased by six percent. The Supreme Court also saw its third year of increasing cases after hitting an all-time low in 2020.  

Three new judgeships were added between Fargo and Grand Forks to help alleviate the increase in that area.
