CARPIO, ND - A man was killed in a train/pedestrian crash in Ward County Sunday afternoon. It happened at around 1 p.m. on Highway 52, northwest of Carpio. The State Patrol says the train operator saw a tractor near the tracks and sounded the horn about a half-mile out. The operator then saw a man standing near the tracks and continued to sound the horn, but ended up striking the man.
The victim was an 84-year old Carpio man. His name has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
