(Fargo, ND) -- Digikey in Thief River Falls is moving some work previously performed at that location to a company-owned facility in India.

A company spokesperson tells WDAY Radio Now the move will impact 85 employees.

"As we continue to grow as a company, we have outpaced the local workforce market in Thief River Falls. This is why some data management, quotes and operations work is being transitioned to our Global Capability Center in India, with approximately 85 team members impacted at our Thief River Falls headquarters. All team members impacted will be offered a different role at our Thief River Falls location that utilizes their expertise and knowledge in a transferrable way. DigiKey regularly realigns our teams as the business evolves," said DigiKey spokesperson Laura Stengrim.

"While more than half of DigiKey’s revenue comes from outside the U.S., only 5% of our team is based outside the U.S. We are still very much a U.S.-based company, but we serve a global customer base, so it makes sense to also have global team members to provide local support.

Beyond the reassigned roles, we are actively trying to fill 100-200 job openings in Thief River Falls at any given time. Please see our Careers site for more information on those roles and the robust benefits that DigiKey provides."
