University of Minnesota reaches deal to end pro-Palestinian encampment

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  A deal has been announced between University of Minnesota officials and students engaged in pro-Palestinian demonstrations on the Twin Cities campus.

Part of the agreement calls for taking down an encampment that has been set up for the last three days.

The deal was made after University President  Jeff Ettinger met with leaders of student groups.

Protests have been held on campus calling on the university to divest from companies with ties to Israel.

Ettinger told students and faculty the dozen buildings that had been closed will reopen this afternoon.

Student organizations also agreed that they will not organize disruptions at upcoming final exams and commencements.
