Man sentenced in fatal Tower City crash after leaving tow-truck on I-94

(Tower City, ND) -- A tow truck driver charged in connection with a deadly crash near Tower City has pleaded guilty to several charges.

Mario Butler's vehicle had mechanical issues on I-94 near Tower City in January of 2022 when he left it on the highway's right lane. Later, a vehicle crashed into the abandoned tow-truck, leading to one death and three serious injuries. Butler was later arrested. He pleded guilty to several charges, including reckless endangerment, driving under suspension, and driving without insurance.

A negligent homicide charge was dropped. Butler will serve 120 days in prison with a two-year supervised probation.
