(Bismarck, ND) -- A Bismarck lawmaker found guilty of voting for a project he had financial ties to is expected to be sentenced today.

The prosecutor in the case against Jason Docktor is recommending a $325 court fee and no jail time after being found guilty of the Class A Misdemeanor, which has a penalty of up to 360 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.

The McLean County State's Attorney, Ladd Erickson, said the state's Ethics Commission is the correct body to issue further penalties. He also defended the jury's expectation to place the $325 fine, saying critics should place their frustrations with the prosecutors and not the Jury.
