North Dakota congressional candidate Rick Becker says he never voted to defund police

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota republican congressional candidate Rick Becker is countering a campaign ad that claims he voted to defund law enforcement.

Becker says there has "never (been) a bill to defund police."

"Any legislator that votes against a budget, votes primarily because of the size of it, or maybe there is something particular in it, like say too many employees, but that would mean if you vote say against an education budget, your intention by voting no, this person is suggesting that you want zero dollars to go to education. Well, I mean that's ridiculous," said Becker.

The campaign ad was produced by the group Brighter Future Alliance, chaired by Pat Finken.

Becker made the comments while appearing on The Flag's "What's on Your Mind".
