Fargo Marathon readies for its 20th anniversary

(Fargo, ND) – The 20th Fargo Marathon is set to hit the pavement in late May, and organizers are excited for what’s to come this year.

This year is the first year without longtime race director Mark Knutson, who died tragically in July 2023.

Chip Hazewski, the new race director for the Fargo Marathon, says everything that his team has experienced “has been a testament to the legacy that Mark created.”

“He was big on relationships, and that’s showing in the support we have from the community,” Hazewski said.

The 2024 edition of the Fargo Marathon will have a new launch and endpoint. In years past, the races began and ended at the FargoDome. This year, the races will launch and end adjacent to the NDSU Campus, on 17th Avenue North and Albrecht Boulevard.

The Fargo Marathon, a week-long celebration, has events running from May 28 through June 1.

Hazewski made the comments while appearing on The Flag’s Steve Hallstrom Show.
