Police arrest North Dakota man after fatal shooting in Stanley

(Stanley, ND)  —  A suspect is in custody following yesterday’s pre-dawn shooting in Stanley that left a man dead.

Local police say Malcolm Mayors was arrested yesterday after he allegedly shot the as-yet-unidentified male victim shortly after midnight yesterday in the five-hundred block of 2nd Street Southeast. Mayors reportedly told investigators he had been eating mushrooms before the victim joined him at his house to play virtual-reality games. At some point, Mayors said, he was looking at the floor and it looked “wavy,” at which point he said he grabbed a firearm and shot his friend.

Mayors remains in custody on a million-dollar bond.  A court date is pending.
