Rep. Fischbach announces federal money to improve infrastructure in Barnesville, Elizabeth & Wheaton

MINNESOTA – Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach announces $9 million in federal money for 11 infrastructure projects across Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District.

The Republican said she championed the funding through the federal appropriations process for $750,000 for the City of Barnesville to replace cast iron and asbestos-concrete water mains, swap out brittle, pre-1970s clay tile sewers, upgrading aging storm systems lacking the capacity to handle heavy raid and eliminating sewer leaks and inflow and infiltration to improve water quality in Whiskey Creek.

“Barnesville is a rapidly growing community, but that growth can only be sustained if the underground infrastructure is reliable,” Rep. Fischbach said. “By replacing these decades-old, failing pipes now, we are preventing costly sewer overflows, ensuring better fire protection with modern water mains, and protecting the local environment.”

Fischbach also announced $1,750,000 for sanitary sewer improvement in Elizabeth, $750,000 in a water improvement project in Polk County and $750,000 for water main pipe replacement in Wheaton.
