Schneider to seek North Dakota Senate seat

FARGO, N.D. – A Democratic lawmaker in the North Dakota House says she will run for her district’s Senate seat.

Mary Schneider made the announcement hours after Senate Minority Leader Kathy Hogan announced she’s retiring at the end of her current term.

“Serving District 21 in the North Dakota Legislature for 12 years has been the honor of a lifetime. The work was made even more meaningful by being able to do it alongside people like Senator Kathy Hogan. A tireless public servant who not only wants better for her neighbors but is willing to fight to make it so. Kathy leaves enormously big shoes to fill, but I am excited to throw my hat in the ring to try and fill them as District 21’s State Senator,” Schneider said.

She was first elected to the House to represent Fargo’s District 21, the heart of Fargo and West Fargo, in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2022.
