MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) – The Clay County attorney’s office has announced that the suspect in an April drive-by shooting in Moorhead has been indicted by a grand jury.
On June 13, a grand jury brought back an indictment against Jerome Thomas III for first degree premeditated murder, first degree murder by drive-by shooting, and two counts of attempted first degree murder with premeditation. Thomas would now face a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
Thomas was arraigned on the indictment on June 16 with bail set at $6 million without conditions or $4 million with various conditions, including pretrial supervision if he posts bail. His next hearing is scheduled for August 28.
Thomas had previously been charged with 2nd degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in the death of James Hamilton on April 13, 2025.
