Update: Moorhead Police say both suspects are in custody.
(MOORHEAD) – Moorhead Police are searching for two suspects that were involved in an early Monday morning assault and robbery.
According to Captain Deric Swenson, Moorhead Police officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of 33rd Street South at 6:15 a.m. Monday on a report of a robbery and assault. The adult male victim stated that the female suspect, 32-year-old Kaitlyn Smith, of Moorhead, brought the male suspect, 31-year-old Francisco Vargas, Jr., no known address, to the location where two males physically assaulted and robbed the victim.
The victim sustained facial injuries and fractured ribs, and his backpack was taken. The backpack contained several items of the victim’s personal property. He was able to leave the scene and later contacted police.
The victims knew the suspects. The other male’s information is not known at this time.
Police say they believe no weapons were used during the incident.
