Valley City military return home from southern border

VALLEY CITY, N.D. — North Dakota military members were welcomed home from the southern border in Valley City on Saturday.

Joining the community to welcome them home were Senator John Hoeven and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak.

“The members of the 142nd Engineer Battalion have served with professionalism and dedication, helping combat illegal immigration, drug smuggling and human trafficking at our southern border,” saidHoeven. “We are grateful for their service and proud to welcome them safely home to North Dakota. Border security is national security, and it’s vital that we do everything we can to protect our country.”

The yearlong deployment supported U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The unit returns to North Dakota after providing critical assistance to CBP operations aimed at stemming illegal immigration, drug smuggling and human trafficking.
