Walz highlights paid family leave program’s early success

ST PAUL, MINN – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says the Paid Family Leave program has already been successful.

“When folks have the security of paid family and medical leave, they’re able to take care of their health, their family’s health, they’re able to bond with their children,” the governor said.

The program went into effect on January 1 statewide after years of preparing and implementing the strategies. Walz said Tuesday that nearly 18,000 people have applied for Paid Family Leave, with 3,500 of those being approved.

He addressed the program at a metro-area business.
