CASS COUNTY, N.D. – Cass County Electric Cooperative had to do $1,000 in repairs to a power line was hit by a hot air balloon according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy was sent to the 4500 block of 135th Avenue SE in rural Cass County around 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 4.
Authorities say windy conditions around 8:30 AM pushed the balloon before the pilot could get enough air into it to gain altitude. No one was hurt.
The group said they’re trying to set a world record for travel in a homemade airship.
The Federal Aviation Administration is helping investigate.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said the video above was not shot by deputies and was provided as part of its investigation.
