WDAY Radio’s Here We Grow donates $1,000 to Farm Rescue

FARGO – WDAY Radio has completed its second annual Here We Grow project.

The project, made possible by farm cooperators Jim and Michael Ueland, of Prosper, N.D., consisted of custom farming 20 acres of wheat.

This year, a check was presented for $1,000 to Farm Rescue.

“Everyone here at Fieldstone Group understands how important Farm Rescue is to those in our ag community who need a helping hand,” Flag Family Media/Fieldstone Group President and Managing Partner Steve Hallstrom said. “And what an unexpected surprise to hear one of our FFA young ladies talk about how Farm Rescue made a difference for their very own family doing our recent WDAY Radio farm show. Farm Rescue is an amazing organization and we are happy to support what they do especially at this key time of year.”

According to its website, “Farm Rescue is the only nonprofit organization of its kind providing farm and ranch families with the operational support they need in times of crisis. Farm Rescue sees a world where family farms and ranches thrive for generations to come.”

Flag Family Ag Director Bridgette Readel talked about the importance of the mission of Farm Rescue.

“When a crisis occurs on a farm, Farm Rescue doesn’t shy away but instead goes right to the heart of it to complete the tasks at hand, whether it is planting, harvest or feeding livestock,” she said. “Our donation can put fuel in the tractors and hope in the hearts when a farm family needs it the most.”

While the Uelands did the ‘heavy lifting’ of planting, crop health and harvest, Readel and Chief Meteorologist Dean Wysocki were following the process and documenting, and sharing, what it takes to grow spring wheat in the region with listeners.
